Off to WordPress

I've been playing with WordPress for the last week or so, and I think I'm switching over for ease of administration. I'll be setting up redirects to blog.karalynnlee.com, but will leave the archives where they are. So if anyone's linked to an entry, they'll be fine. I have high hopes that RSS readers will get the new feed without any problem.

Unfortunately, this probably means a dump of all the gamebook musing I've been posting about over there. Sorry about that, and I will be aiming for a wider range of topics in the future.

Demon's Fall info page up

| No TrackBacks

Just a quick note to say that I finally put up the page for Demon's Fall, complete with links to a long excerpt, early reviews, an image of the cover in glorious full size (810 by 1,281 pixels; click with care), and places to pre-order.

Oh, and one of those reviews is a 5/5 from Long and Short Reviews, which qualifies it for a weekly poll -- the poll's based on how intriguing the reviews make the books sound so see what strikes your fancy without actually reading the book (which is difficult for mine, since it hasn't been released yet). I appreciate them letting me know!

The online bookseller All Romance eBooks is running a contest among 32 selected paranormal short stories — and one of the finalists is mine! The stories will be paired up, and anyone registered with ARe (it's free to sign up) can read them and vote once per pair for several rounds through the month of October until the final winner is chosen. I'm already happy just being included in this first round, which means that my story will be up at least through October 6th.

If paranormal shorts interest you, take a look and vote for your favorites. My story, "Lilith," is set in the same world as Demon's Fall, so it's a fantasy romance featuring an angel and a demon, with a mild twist of fairy tale. I posted the first couple paragraphs earlier here.

Also, speaking of Demon's Fall, it's now available for pre-order from Carina Press; or, if you're a reviewer, from NetGalley.

"Stolen Away" posted

I came back to find that "Stolen Away," a fantasy romance short story in a Venetian-inspired setting, is available in the October issue of The Samhellion.

The formatting's a bit wonky, so I went ahead and posted it on my site as well.

More after I recover from jetlag and meet a deadline.

Commitment on a few ideas

Put up the beginnings of a couple of the science fiction stories that are progressing nicely.

Beneath Their Masks

Put up Beneath Their Masks. No actual sex in this story; putting it in would have meant writing a different, longer arc.

Emaris woke cradled in Tedraun's arms, a row of faces staring down at her. Masks lined the walls of every chamber in his home, every imaginable beast depicted in a cacophony of shapes and colors.

"It's a good thing Mayfly Night's finally come," she murmured into his ear.

Stories, plural

Put up the second one, "From a Garden Evening":

They had always told her that subtlety was best, but in their excitement they gave her a gold-embroidered robe to wear, and set jewels in her hair, and sprayed too much perfume upon her wrists, behind her ears, between her breasts. They all but pushed her through the curtain of tiny threaded bells, which announced her presence to the man sitting patiently upon a cushion on the garden patio.

She sank to the ground and made obeisance gracefully, not looking up until he said, "How are you called?"

"Mayremie, my lord," she said. He was, of course, quite unlike all the descriptions. But no seated man was that tall, especially if he was usually astride his war-steed, and no shoulders could be as broad without armor. It had taken no giant to conquer all the known lands of the east, only a man. This man.
